The purpose of a toner is to balance out the pH of your skin and remove impurities from the pores. A natural, toxic free and affordable solution is to make your own toner at home. Making your own toner is super easy and requires few simple ingredients. We have gathered here some of the best and easy recipes for 5 DIY toners.

    Apple Cider Vinegar toner:

The benefits of apple cider vinegar for health are many. Whether taken internally or applied on the skin, it is a must have for anyone who wants to detox their body and skin. ACV contains malic and lactic acid which helps soften and exfoliate your skin. This skin toner is used to treat acne, help with blemishes and scar and achieve healthier skin in general. To make this, you’ll need:

√ 3 parts water

√ 1 part apple cider vinegar

Take a clean bottle( spray bottle preferably), fill it 3/4th with water and add apple cider vinegar vinegar to the remaining 1/4th part. Shake well. Use it every morning and night after washing your face. You can spray it directly or apply by soaking a cotton ball in this toner.

    Lemon Toner:

Lemon is a natural bleach which helps lighten skin complexion. The acids in lemon juice are irritating and can do more harm than good when applied directly to the skin. Never go out in direct sun exposure because lemon juice can burn your skin and cause hyper-pigmentation. Therefore, always dilute lemon juice with water for skin application. It has antibacterial and anti-wrinkle properties which helps heal acne and prevent wrinkles, respectively. For lemon toner, you’ll need:

√ 1 ½ cups of  distilled water
√ ½ tbsp of lemon juice
√ 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil

Mix everything in a spray bottle and shake well. Use this every night before bedtime and rinse in the morning. Keep this toner in the fridge and it can last for about 2 weeks.

    Sea Salt Toner:

Salt has been used for centuries for therapeutic purposes. Sea salt is often used in scrubs because of its exfoliating properties. It can also be used in toners for the same purpose. To make this toner, mix 1 tbsp of sea salt in a cup of warm water. Pour this in a spray bottle and it’s ready to use. Apply this morning and night after your cleansing routine.

    Rosewater and Glycerin:

Rosewater contains phenyl ethanol which is a natural astringent. It’s antiseptic and helps with skin irritation and acne. Glycerin is used in many skin care products for its moisturizing properties. Use this toner for a relaxing and refreshing feel on your skin. To make your own rosewater and glycerin toner : simply, mix 1 1/2 cups of rose water and 1/4th cup of glycerin. Pour in a spray bottle. Shake well before use.

    Green Tea Toner

Green tea is filled with antioxidants which makes your skin clear and brighter. To make this green tea toner, steep a tea bag in a cup of hot water. Let it sit for an hour and remove the tea bag. Pour your green tea in a spray bottle and keep it in the fridge. You can add a few drops of Vitamin E oil or Lemon oil, if you like.  Spritz this toner day and night after washing your face.
